Modern racing titles offer a dense menu of driving assists and HUD options, and many new players either leave everything on or switch everything off without really understanding what each feature does. Small tweaks can make driving feel more natural, reduce frustration, and help you get quicker without needing alien reflexes.

Understand what driving assists actually do

Driving assists are tools that sit between your inputs and the car’s response. They manage traction, braking, steering and stability so you can focus more on learning lines and timing. The downside is that heavy assistance can limit your pace or make handling feel vague.

Before changing anything, check if the game has preset difficulty profiles. These usually bundle assists together. Start from the closest preset to your comfort level, then fine tune individual options instead of turning everything off at once.

Core assists: which to keep and which to reduce

Forintermediate drivers, start trading comfort for control: traction control medium or low, ABS on, stability low, steering assist off or minimal, racing line for braking only, manual with auto clutch if available. Work on consistent reference points for braking and practice gentle throttle on corner exit.

Foradvanced playerschasing every fraction of a second, experiment with traction control very low or off, stability off, ABS low or off depending on physics, no racing line, and full manual transmission. At this stage, adjust car-specific setup options like brake bias and differential only after you have consistent laps with default tuning.

HUD and camera tweaks that quietly boost consistency

Camera and HUD choices are not technically assists, but they affect how quickly you react. Many players drive better with a slightly lower field of view and a camera that is near cockpit or bonnet height, since this makes speed more readable and apexes easier to judge.
