Capcom has officially lifted the lid on Dragon’s Dogma 2’s first major expansion, “Elders of Battahl”, confirming a new explorable region, an additional vocation and a slate of new monsters targeted for release later this year on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

The announcement follows months of teases in trailers and datamining, and it aims to pull lapsed players back to the action RPG while giving committed Arisen a reason to push their high level pawns even further.

New Battahl borderlands and story focus

The core of the DLC is a new zone on the fringes of Battahl, described by Capcom as a harsher, more vertical wilderness that branches off the late game routes of the base campaign. Unlike the existing deserts and canyons, the expansion area mixes tight cliffside passes with dense underground networks.

Story content is built around a council of ancient magistrates, the “Elders”, who govern forgotten rites tied to dragons and monsters. The DLC slots into a completed save, so players keep their current Arisen, pawns and equipment, but it will also be accessible from a fresh playthrough once they reach a certain point in the main story.

New vocation: Oracle brings support and debuffs

“Elders of Battahl” adds Oracle, a new hybrid vocation that blends spellcasting with tactical buffs and debuffs. Positioned as an alternative to Sorcerer and Trickster, Oracle does not rely on pure damage, instead manipulating tempo in party fights.

Oracle skills include delayed healing fields, curse transfer mechanics and short range stuns that reward careful positioning. Capcom says the vocation will be unlockable through a dedicated questline inside the DLC region, and once learned, it will be available across the rest of the world like other vocations.

Monsters, dungeons and encounter variety

At least three new large scale monsters are confirmed: a cavern dwelling dragon variant that clings to ceilings, a lion headed construct animated by magic relics and a towering bat creature that can grab pawns and drop them from height. Smaller enemy types fill out the caves and ridges, including cultist mages who use Oracle style debuffs.

The expansion leans heavily on enclosed dungeons and multi stage encounters. Players can expect more fights that start outdoors, then spill into underground ruins, with environmental hazards like collapsing ledges and rockfalls playing a bigger role than in the base game.

Gear progression, pawns and performance targets

To support late game progression, “Elders of Battahl” introduces a new tier of weapons and armor focused on resistances rather than raw damage, which should directly benefit vocations such as Oracle, Trickster and Mystic Spearhand. Some of the strongest items are locked behind optional bosses and repeatable dungeon routes.

Pawns gain fresh inclinations tied to support roles and crowd control, along with new lines of recorded dialogue for the expansion’s scenarios. Capcom is also targeting the same performance profile as the main game, so players should not need different graphics settings, though the studio notes that dense particle effects from Oracle spells could increase GPU load in larger battles.

Pricing, release window and what it means for players

Capcom is treating “Elders of Battahl” as a traditional paid expansion rather than small cosmetic content. The DLC will be sold as a standalone add on and as part of a new bundle that includes the base game for new players who have not yet picked up Dragon’s Dogma 2.

The publisher has given a broad release window of “later in 2026” without a fixed date, and says more detailed gameplay breakdowns will follow closer to launch. For players, this marks the first sign that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is moving into a longer tail of support, with a focus on deeper vocations and challenging late game areas rather than large scale mechanical overhauls.
